Morning Supplications – أذكار الصباح

1.) Ayat ul-Kursi:

Allâh! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber, nor sleep overtake Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursî extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [al-Baqarah: 02:255]

*Recite this verse once in the morning

Benefit: Whoever recites it when he reaches the evening, will be protected from the Jinn until he reaches the morning. And whoever recites Aayat ul-Kursi after each prescribed Ṣalaah, nothing will be standing between him and Paradise except death.

  1. Narrated by Ubayy ibn Ka’b (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said that he had a pile of dates from which some were disappearing, so he guarded it one night and he saw a beast that resembled a grown boy. He greeted him and he returned the greeting, and said, “What are you, a jinni or a human?” He said, “A jinni.” He said, “Stretch out your hand to me.” So he stretched out his hand and he saw that it was the paw of a dog with the hair of a dog. He said, “Is this the form of the jinn?” He said, “The jinn know that there is no man among them who is stronger than me.” He said, “What brought you here?” He said, “We heard that you love to give charity so we came for a share of your food.” He said, “What will protect us from you?” He said, “This verse that is in Surah al-Baqarah: “the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists)…” [Baqarah 2:255]. Whoever recites it in the evening will be protected from us until morning, and whoever recites it in the morning will be protected from us until the evening.” The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and mentioned that to him, and he said, “The evil one spoke the truth.”

Narrated by Abu Umaamah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whoever recites Aayat ul-Kursi after each prescribed ṣalaah, nothing will be standing between him and Paradise except death.”

Then he (ﷺ) said again, ‘Say’, so I said, ‘What should I say?’ He said, ‘Say, He is Allaah, who is One’ and the two chapters of refuge (al-Falaq and an-Naas) when you enter upon the evening and the morning three times (each). ‘There is none worthy of worship except for Allaah, He is alone having no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise and He is Able to do all things’, ten times, Allaah Decrees for him for each time he says it: ten good deeds, an expiation for ten evil deeds, a raising of his rank by ten degrees. It will be as if he freed ten slaves (in reward), and it will be a protection for him from the beginning of the day until the end of the day. He will not do any action/deed on that day that will overcome him. If he says it in the evening, then the (reward) will be the same.”

My Lord, I ask you for the good that is in this night and the good that will come after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil in this night and the evil that will come after it. My Lord I seek refuge in You from laziness and the hardships old age. I seek refuge in Your from the punishment of the Hell-fire and the punishment in the grave.”

And when it was morning he said:” We entered upon morning and the whole Kingdom of Allaah entered upon morning.”

[Narrated by Muslim (2723)]

‘O Allaah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship but You. You created me and I am Your slave. I am upon Your covenant and Your promise to the best of my ability. I seek Your Protection from the evil that I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I acknowledge my sins. So forgive me, for no one forgive sins but You.’

The Prophet (ﷺ) added, “If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.”

O Allaah, conceal my faults and calm my fears/that which causes my worry. O Allaah, give me protection from in front of me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me. I seek refuge by Your might from being suddenly struck from beneath me.’”

And He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing’, then he will not suffer sudden affliction until the morning, and if anyone says this in the morning, he will not suffer sudden affliction until the evening.”

Abaan was afflicted by some paralysis and when a man who heard the tradition began to look at him, he said to him: “Why are you looking at me?
